Backup exec 9.1 error message

I have a bent server 9.1 running on W2k3 keep getting the following error and the services won't start.  The error when I try to start the service (backup exec media service) Error 1065 The database specified does not exsist,

Then in the event viewer the error is

The LSN (23606:378:1) passed to log scan in database 'BEDB' is invalid

Any help?  I looked on MS and found a technote saying that the latest patch for msde or sql should be put on and I downlowded that no help.

Thanks,
Mike

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

You've tried reinstalling, right?

That's an option if the backup catalogs are stored in the jobs.

"Error 1065 The database specified does not exsist"

This is a setting in backup exec, and it points to a bad file, or bad path name.  Boot in safe mode.  Run Backup exec and look at the settings, you will see the file specified or directory is bad somehow.  If you cant fix it there, stop the BUExec service, then go into config setup and change the file /path for the DB.

If this doesnt work, remove the install and reinstall, but be warned you have the horrendous job of cataloging all the tapes all over again -- a reinstall kills all the tape catalogs, that is about as stupid as it can get!

hi, there

what is the build on that Backup Exec version. ???

There might be a later build we need to install, by the way by installing the new engine the catalog is still there..

I can't find what build it is, but I have not upgraded for about a year at least.

Well thanks for all the help, I tried everything so I called Veritas!  Which is now Symantec, waited on hold for an hour, and ended up with someone who I could hardly understand reading a script YAAYYY tech support is awesome!  However, after an hour waiting and an hour working with the person.  It took all of 60 seconds to fix once they figured it out.

The dB was corrupt, so it couldn't find it, there is a utility called beutility.exe in the NT folder under program files\veritas.  Added the server, then right clicked on it and tried to recover that didn't work so I did a restore, lost a few backups but I can catalog those few that were lost!  At least I don't have to catalog everything.
