I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What windows manager you are using?
but for general you can edit your .xsession file

nano -w ~/.Xclients
(add the following lines)

LC_ALL="en_GB"; export LC_ALL

and then restart X or reboot your computer.

Regards,

NOTE: en_GB for UK language,
en_US for US language!

Zentoo's advice will affect only graphical clients.
For system wide language change edit file /etc/sysconfig/i18n
and set:

LANG="en_US"
SYSFONT="lat1-16"
SYSFONTACM=""

then reboot your machine.
