Which data-modeling tool (ERD) or object-oriented (UML) would you guys choose to model a relational database? One of my co-worker said that ERD has more advantages than the UML.
In my opion,I will choose the UML because even though the ERD is still the most popular choice for developing relational database the UML has some advantages. Any thought?

    Accepted Solution

UML tools now feature DB modelling as well: It's a more integrated way of going about it: ERD won't help you model classes etc and you benefit from consolidation of models.

    A recommended UML tool is:
    [UML] Enterprise Architect

    I use this - it's great.

    hi gabeso.
so do you suggest UML to choose to model a relational database?
I think that the ERD data-modeling method is well suited for developing the structure of a relational database but doesn't have much value in showing the actions to be performed on the data.
Am I hitting the right target??
