I have an ASUS P4S800 motherboard which apparently makes no mention of firewire capabilities and I am getting a Multi Function Panel which includes a Firewire connection. Can I utilises the firewire connection by adding a PCI firewire card to my computer or is this not possible for the same reason.

There is no reason that a seperate firewire card shouldn't work - just ensure that the card you get has an internal header for connection to your panel (I'm assuming your panel is going to be mounted inside the pc case).
