Oracle Server goes down with a trace file.
The alert log shows the following.
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcblibr_1], [4294967295], [1], [3338911984], [1025], [], [], []
Thu Mar 30 00:54:11 2006
Non-fatal internal error happenned while SMON was doing temporary segment drop.
SMON exceeded the maximum limit of 100 internal error(s).
Thu Mar 30 00:54:11 2006
Errors in file /oracle/P25/saptrace/backg round/p25_ smon_67452 .trc:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcblibr_1], [4294967295], [1], [3338911984], [1025], [], [], []
SMON: terminating instance due to error 600
The trace file is a 125 MB file which has the following text in the end:
error 600 detected in background process
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcblibr_1], [4294967295], [1], [3338911984], [1025], [], [], []
I checked on Oracle Metalink, there is no clear cut explaination about this, only possible error texts, this looks like a unknow issue, has anyone encountered the same ?
Any help is appreciated.

Siddhesh

what is your version of oracle?
I guess 9.2.0.6, where the solution would be fixed in 9.2.0.7

Hi angelIII,
yes that's correct. But do you know why this problem occurs. I have confirmed in oracle.metalink.com that this problem is fixed in the patch.
But i just wanted to know the cause so that we can think about the work around till we apply the patch.

Hi angelIII,
I had seen the same note number and confirmed that the problem would be fixed in the next patch.
Thanks for all the help.
I would like to wait for some more inputs from other members before closing this question.

ORA-600 shows bugs (in almost all cases).
The best reaction is to move to next version of Oracle.
Another possible fix is to analyze the server machine.
Possibly you will encounter one or more of the following:
1. Not all kernel parameters are set correctly
2. Other huge software products are installed after - e.g. Application servers, other oracle products
3. In Unix/Linux not all needed environment variables are set correctly
4. Firewalls and Antivureses are running
All this can cause accidents in the Oracle instance.
