I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

in sql studio (sql 2005 enterprise management)

i right click on link server
> new linked server
here there are some parameter to set

linked server?
server type ?

sql server or Other data source.

if i choose sql server, there is nothing to set and if i choose other data source i can set some parameter like provider, product name, data source, provider string and catalog.

can you tell me what i have to do?
