Is there a VB.NET equivalent to the VB 6.0 "Doevents"?

I want to release control periodically while I am looping so that I can  allow cancel requests, etc

Thank you,

If you are using 2005  you may want to check out the BackgroundWorker component.  It may be that you want to use this to run the job in a seperate thread. It has a way to report progress back to the main thread via events.  It gives you multithreaded programming capabilities without the headaches.
