Unable to send to hotmail.com, yahoo.com and others using SBS2003 Exchange

Currently email etc is hosted on webmail mail.domain.com, we want to be able to leave the hosting on the web but download and send using the local SBS2003 Exchange, I've configured the POP3 Connector to download emails from the webmail site, however SMTP will not send to some domains. The most frequent ones are hotmail.com and yahoo.com however there are others periodically. Currently all they do is sit in the queue in scheduled status sometimes for days. If I go into the Server Management> Advanced Mangement> First Organization (Exchange)> Servers>Server2k3> Queues I can see:

SmallBusiness SMTP Connector - hotmail.com (SMTP Connector) listed as scheduled without another "Time next connection retry"

Same for yahoo.com and any others that do not send. If I manually "Force connection" The messages will send.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

How is the SBS Connector configured? To use DNS or to use a smart host?

Check your DNS is working correctly using this question:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Networking/Email_Groupware/Exchange_Server/Q_21804373.html

Ensure that DNS is configured externally using the guide on my web site: http://www.amset.info/exchange/dnsconfig.asp

You may end up having to switch the SMTP Connector to use a smart host instead, which will be your ISPs SMTP Server.
