Domain Controller down and up time

Hello

Just wondering if it is possible to speed up the process which by computers on a network pick up an alternate domain controller if the one it is using goes down?

Regards

Hi dcarrion,

if a dc goes down completely? you need to have a good disaster plan basically

if a machine goes down you need to look at FSMO role placement and setting up an alternate global catalog etc...

Cheers!

Hello

There is only one single domain. If the domain controller goes down I would just have to wipe it from active directory won't I?

The real question is if there is a way to increase the speed in which computers pick up the other domain controller if it is using the one that goes down.

Thanks

Daniel

a reboot!    if 1 DC goes down that hold FSMO roles you have to seize them on another DC before your domain will function again

not a matter of just wiping it from AD at all

have a check of this
