WSUS issues

I have sever servers running against a WSUS server that is controlled via GPO. This app seems to work great and stable. But, I have a couple of servers that are having issues. Below are 2 seperate logs. Log 1 is from a server that is operating correctly, and Log 2 is from the failing server. Like I said, both server are getting the AU configurations from the same GPO.

Note: These are the WindowsUpdate.Log and was force generated by the command WUAUCLT.EXE (which forces the server to look at the WSUS server), and are both W2K3 servers.

After the download finishes, run then restart the server and check if it works or not.

Ok, so I am assuming DirectX is installed on the server? How can i tell?

Run Directx on the computer, type the following command,
Start --> run --> dxdiag and enter
A Directx Diagnostic tool box will appear for you and will ask to click yes, click yes, now DirectX will apear for you, this is how to check if you already have it or not, Usually it's already installed, but i doubt that your computer is having a problem with it, that's why i asked you to reinstall it..

It's also better to uninstall it first, download the following tool to uninstall it..

I will aslo add, the servers that aren't connecting to WSUS, are server that are running Sharepoint.

From looking at the logs, it appears as if the servers that are having issues are not looking at the right server. These lines:

servername(dns) = local server
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = WSUS server

Why is the log stating?:
Proxy List used: local server

Not being familar how to read these logs, but to me that seems as if it is looking in the wrong place. It does list the WSUS server in the next line, but logs the error "SendRequestUsingProxy failed" . Using Proxy?

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN Settings.
4. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box, click to select the Automatically detect settings check box, and then click OK.
5. Quit Internet Explorer.
6. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
7. Type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command. a. proxycfg -d
b. net stop wuauserv
c. net start wuauserv
d. exit

Atleast the log file is now reporting success and the server has now received the updates from the WSUS server.

Last question - Within WSUS, under Computers, the server is still stating that it has reported in 20 days. I have refreshed the window, will this clear out?

I hope so, just keep tracking the event log for the update and see what will happend in case there's any new errors or not.
