Exporting and importing EAR files

I am trying to get myself out of a 'poor practices' situation.  I currently develop JAVA apps using WSAD v5.1 and CVS.  Until now, I have not had the need to make a CVS branch or a version.  Recently, I started on a new feature to an existing project.  However, I neglected to make a branch or version before starting on it.  Now, I have been asked to make a fix to the production app, but I can't publish it from my current workspace because I didn't version or branch it before starting on the new feature.

I tried exporting the project to an ear file and made sure to check the 'Export source files' box, but when I import it as a new project, the only source files I get are web content files.  None of my java source is there.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get back on track?  I need to get a pre-new feature version as well as a new feature development version.
