Hello Experts. I don't know a thing about SMS. Can you help point me in the right direction to get started learning how to employ SMS into my applications?

Many kind thanks in advance!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi JohnLucio,

Using VB6?

You can send a regular e-mail to send a SMS. The trick is to find the gateway related to the provider of the cell phone you are trying to reach. These can help:

·     http://www.notepage.net/smtp.htm

Cheers!

Ahhhhhhhhhh....I got the gist of it! I successfully sent my wife an SMS via an email.

Unfortunately, to employ this in my apps, a user would need to be prompted for the cell phone provider. What I would really like to do is take a number and send the SMS to that number--without having to prompt for a cell phone provider. Any ideas?
