What version of Crystal?

I know Crystal before CR9 didn't support the embedding of printer codes and I don't think this has changed with CR XI.  The codes you are trying to embed are essentially printer codes or escape sequences.

I have Crystal Reports 10 Express. So, they stopeed supporing embedded codes in this version? What will be the next best thing to do, they are asking us to pay $3000 to buy the Rightfax COM component

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

We have implemented 4 years back with Crystal Reports and Rightfax. But I am not sure about the version of the Crystal Reports that time.

Just noticed the Express on the version of Crystal.  I am not sure what that is but Crystal does provide "crippled" versions of their software so you can try it in the hopes that you will need some of the missing features and buy a full copy.

It is very possible that ability to send reports to a fax with appropriate codes is not included in the Express edition.

Add (Connect to) the network FaxRight printer (off the RightFax server). The 'local' RightFax printer added as part of the RightFax Client installation doesn't seem to work.

Into your report (e.g. the page header) add a text field with embedded codes, e.g. "<TOFAXNUM:212-555-5555><TONAME:SomeName><NOCOVER>". Make sure the font used is non-TTF (i.e. printer) font - preferably Courier 12pt.  However, if no non-TrueType fonts are available, edit printer driver's font substitution table (under Device Settings) to have "Courier New" substituted with "Courier" and then use Courier New TTF size 12 for your embedded codes field instead.
