MSN "hey is this you?" virus

This is more of an FYI than a question actually..

Got the following message from an msn buddy

hey is this you? http://www.msgrprofiles.net/members.php?msn=<my email address>

i was about to click the message when i received the exact same message from another buddy. buddy A and buddy B doesnt know each other so its weird that they will send me the same message at the same time. i called them up and they told me not to open the link (coz they did and now their systems are all screwed).

has anyone encountered this before?

Hi taga-ilog,
there you go question is re-open.

the link I posted is not the fix, it is just the info about the W32Chod worm.

You need to ask them to download Hijackthis and scan their system with it because there might be other worms/viruses that are also present.

That will be hard to clean if they can't open anything. If they have another pc, they could always remove the hard drive and hook it up as a slave drive and clean it that way.

Please download HijackThis 1.99.1
http://www.cyberanswers.org/forum/uploads/HijackThis1991.exe
Open Hijackthis, click "scan and save a logfile" don't fix anything yet, just upload the logfile created, go here and paste your Hijackthis log, http://www.rafb.net/paste/
then at the bottom left corner click "paste"
Copy the address/url and post it here:

Or copy and paste the log at;
http://www.hijackthis.de/
and click "Analyse", "Save".  Post a link to the saved list here.
