refresh select / drop down box without page refresh

I have a select box that holds database items if any of the database fields are TRUE.  Once I click submit, the field turns to FALSE and the next time someone visits the page, that database item will no longer be shown in the select box.

However, the only way I have found to clear the select box is to press the submit button twice, which is something i don't want to do.

I want the select box to refresh without and response.redirects to other pages because I want the user to remain on the same page and read a confirmation message.

This confirmation message must be on the same page

Is there any way that I can force the select box to refresh itself without refreshing the page?  Maybe creating the select box inside a function and then calling the function at the end of the script?

Can someone please help me out?

Greetings, sh00tar.

You can refresh a select without refreshing the page, by moving the select to anotehr page and then showing it in an IFRAME on the main page.  To refresh the select simply refresh the page page it's on.  Because it's contained in a page being shown in an IFRAME it refreshes while the main page remains unchanged.

Cheers!

is there a way this can happen automatically? I don't want my users to manually press refresh.

Do you have any steps i can follow?

They wouldn't have to manually press refresh.  The contents of the IFRAME can be refreshed in an ONCLICK event, an ONLOAD event, pretty much anywhere that you can fire some code.  Here's a link to another question on the the same issue wehre I posted sample code: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/Web_Languages/ASP/Q_21815440.html

I've managed to accomplish my task without using your suggestion.  I'm sure your answer is right though and I will award you the points.
