URGENT: Recovery of tmp files

Hi Guys

I did the worst thing I ever did just a moment ago - I didnt save my work, and came back, recompiled the project and it GPF'd.  I lost a couple of hours work ...

Before I try to reconstruct the data .... thought I might ask and see if there is a way to recover the lost data in the vb**.tmp files ... I have scrounged and found that the frx files can be restored so perhaps someone has found a way to reconstruct the tmp files ??

Hi!

You can get .frm -files from your tmp-files but there can be problems some ActiveX controls might get converted to picture boxes etc, but just name them as ".frm".

so are you saying that I just rename the tmp files with an extension of frm ?

Yes!

And when loading these forms, make a project and add those ActiveX-controls there, then add this rescued form on the project, othervice controls are converted to pictureboxes.

also the changes are not stored in the project in the working dir as long as you don't save.

until you press save, the files in the temp dir will be used
