"Could not connect: Got an unknown RCPT TO response: 554 Relay rejected for policy reasons" while searching for email ID

Hi...
We have our own Lotus Notes Domain Server and webserver... We registered one website and hosted it through Lotus Domino.We created email ID through our Lotus domino admin...in this new domain name

We have changed the A record and MX record....
Our website is working...But email ID created is not working. we used the DNSSTUFF.com website to check the email ID and we are getting the following msg.....
"Could not connect: Got an unknown RCPT TO response: 554 Relay rejected for policy reasons."

What could be the reason?

What check did you perform? I seem to remember that dnsstuff.com can also test for open  relays, in which case a reject is in order... If the test is for mail to "postmaster", you may have to check that postmaster exists and that you haven't set any odd restrictions on the mail server.

I did email test..... I tried to test mike@lbg-india.com
Our Domain is lbg-india.com which is a child domain of cosmosbrands.com

Can you send mail internally?
Can you check the mail servers settings? You need to ascertain that there are no severe restrictions set, or that the default settings don't include something like "reject all incoming" and you have to adjust this manually to allow incoming mail. Different mail servers use different wording to describe restrictions. You need to allow incoming from all domains and allow relaying for local users, or something like that. Do you do administration for the mail server yourselves or is it hosted by someone?

We hosted the website ourself... registered with the help of net4domain.com service provider...

But the mail server is more important here - who is admin for the mail server? Who can make adjustments?

Problem resolved...
In domino server, Messaging-->Domain entry was pending... Now it works...
