Syncing address books between GroupWise 7 and Intellisync 5.5

We upgraded to GroupWise (GW) 7 and I am unable to cleanly sync the address books from GW to my Palm Tungsten T using Intellisync 5.5.
The addresses are copied to the Palm BUT all go to the “Unfiled” book instead of their named books from which they came.  I spoke to Puma (Intellisync maker) and they said GW 7 introduced “Category” in GW 7 and that is how the sync process works between the two.  If the catrgory is not setup in the addresses within GW, then by default, all address will go to the Unfiled (default from install) book within the Palm.
There is no option within Intellisync to mass select the address entries within a book(s) and assign the category to all on one shot….
SO here is the QUESTION….
Is there a way in GW to mass select and change the category within a book?
Thank you….

I don't know if there's an easy way.

I'm sure you could program something to do it using the developer kit, if you're a programmer.

Otherwise, all I can suggest is exporting the address books, massaging the data to add the category (I don't know what you'd add to add the category) and then importing the updated data back in.

Maybe there's a 3rd-party tool available on coolsolutions that can help. has stuff categorized as for GroupWise 7. is generically GroupWise cool tools.  Some are old and won't work with current versions, so if you find something there, make sure it will work with GW7 before you try using it.
Here you go - a Formativ applet, made to order, for adding category to addresses.

This course teaches how to install and configure Windows Server 2012 R2.  It is the first step on your path to becoming a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).

Never mind that - it's for GW5.5/6.0 only.  Maybe check the Advansys website to see if there's a tool to do what you want that isn't on the coolsolutions site... a lot of their applets are free to use (they want you to get their suite so you can make your own.)

They have a product for syncing the client against GW address book.   So far in my testing, it is working fine...
For GW and the Palm device, the product is SmartSYNC..
