Installer service keeps shutting down
I've looked everywhere for an answer to this but to no avail.
Basically the windows installer service keeps shutting down for no apparent reason. It's set to automatically start up, and does so, but whenever I try to install or uninstall software I get a message telling the the service cannot be found so I check it and the thing has shut down. I restart the service, install or uninstall and all is well. Then, if I need to do it again, the service has shut down again.
This is particularly problematic when it comes to installing windows updates.
Why could this be happening and how do I stop it?
