Free software for lowlevel formating
My new hard drive crashed yesterday while I was trying to format the second partition.
Now, not only can I not boot it up, but I get a hard drive failure, and the computer locks before it can boot from the CD-Rom.
I'm pretty sure if I do a lowlevel format, that will fix the drive.
I'm looking for good links for free software that will do low level formmating and diagnostic.

I just tried the diagnostic utility in the Maxtor web site, and it seems the drive has a physical failure, which can not be corrected via lowlevel format.
