Hi,

I have a MAC OS X version 10.4.6 laptop that I am trying to get to print to a printer that is shared through a Windows XP SP 2 machine.  I setup print services for Unix, and I tried pretty much every setting (LPD, IPP, etc. etc.) to get this to print and it will not.

Does anyone have any ideas or walkthroughs that can help me set this up ?

Thanks,

I tried this link "Printing to a printer on a Windows XP PC from a Mac running 10.4.x", and I get an error :

Unable to connect to Samba host, will retry in 60 seconds ... debug: Page = 612x792; 8,8 to 604, 784, then it says "NT _status_logon_failure"

I thought maybe it was the firewall that was on the XP machine, so I turned it off and got the same results.

I thought maybe I typed in the wrong password, but where do I reset the password for the printer ?

Thanks,

Try going to Start:Settings:Printers.  Right click on the Printer. Choose Properties. Then make sure Sharing is turned on. The go to the Security tab and make sure the proper permissions are set.

Correct, sharing is on, and the domain users Active Direcotry group has full permissions to the printer.

I wonder if you have to create a specific user on the PC for the Mac?

But how do I get it to prompt me for the ID and password again ?  It asked me once and never again ... I wonder if I typed that password in wrong ...

Yes, I read it ...

I think the password will be stored in Keychain Assistant application found in the utilities folder. Delete the entry pertaining to the printer.

Here is another possibility:

Also make sure your firewall on the PC is not blocking the connection.
