URGENT Connectivity lost to host, console hung, attempt with telnet host actively drops connection

It works for a while then is inacessible, meaning trying to telnet to it or ssh a message comes back Host closed connection.

Trying to log into console accepts username and password and hangs never giving shell back.   Had to restart server.  Hapening twice now.  I need some direction on what this could be!!!  Nothing in error -a

I'm seeing this error.  Could lack of paging lock it up like this?!

Bumped paging up, will keep an eye on it.
keep an eye on misbehaved program and limit it. swapping generally is bad.

Could that have halted it that much that even console access was inhibited?
