Hello everyone,

I've got CF5 server on a Windows 2003 Std Box with CF 5 running.  The server is serving pages and everything just fine, and using the SQL DB too.  But it will not allow me to enter out mail server as the SMTP server...for a matter of fact, it will not allow any server to be entered.  Says that it cannot establish a connection.

My localhost works okay to connect, but the server on the LAN and the WAN mail servers can not be connected to.  I used to use Exchange on this box.   Is there any obvious settings that I need to change on the server?

    Assisted Solution

Double-check that the mail server you're attempting to connect to is allowing connections and relaying for the ip address the webserver is likely to use when attempting a connection test.

    Accepted Solution

Ok. One of your problems is that exchange requires a password to send via smtp.  Coldfusion 5.0 doesn't allow you to use passwords to the smtp.  Your option would be to 1. Open the relay(dumb don't do it, will cause spamming problems as well as devious programmer causing havioc) 2. Move to coldfusion 7.0 or 6.1.
