Can't acces my server

While upgrading PHP on Freebsd 4.4 i needed to compile in the libxml modules. I apt_getted the needed libraries including libelf-0.8.6. This is a leased server, so my only access is through ssh. I now receive the error message "ELF interpreter /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1 not found  Abort" when trying virtually any command such as su or nano. i can ls and change directories, but can not run any commands. It appears something has happened with the permissions and i don't know where to start. I get a Permission denied if i try to ls /usr/libexec. My host is web.com former interland and they need $200 bucks for a backup so i would like to try and fix it somehow myself if possible. We have a virtual admin terminal, but it reads that it is unable to retrieve the users list. Httpd, email, and ftp all seem to be working.

Problem Solved: I was able to use webmin and create a new wheel user. There was an option to apply this user to all modules which i did. Somehow this "reset" the users and all is back to normal.
