301 redirect in iis for htm files

Hi experts,

i need to 301 redirect some .htm files, and don't have access to IIS, just ftp.

Anyone know how to do this?

if you dont have access to IIS then do this


open a notepad and type the below instruction

Redirect permanent / http://www.new-url.com 

and then save the file as .htaccess (remember the whole filename should be just .htaccess no name before . or no extension after htaccess it is just .htaccess) and then upload this to your root directory through ftp

thanks for the reply Cherukuri30  - how do i specify actual pages to redirect using the htaccess file and does this work in iis as well as php?

If you do not have access to the IIS configuration you cannot do this.

Htaccess does *not* have any effect in IIS.
