Capturing Video from proprietary software

I have some video on a DVD made for computer viewing that has its own proprietary software to run.  I need to take segments from each DVD and place them all together on one VHS or another DVD.

Aside from just placing a camera in front of my monitor, does anyone have any ideas as to what or how I can capture this video on my pc while it is playing in its own proprietary software?

Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
