need Shell Script help

I have windows 2000 Pro and have heard that if I want windows to rename a folder from say, "c:/backup/cpbackup" to "c:/backup/cpbackup 20.04.06", then a Shell Script can do this.

Could someone help me set it up, as I know ZERO about shell scripts.

Thanks guys

i forgot to mention, is it possible that the "date" part of the renaming process is the current date, whenever it renames it...
