How do we add and subtract Time using javascript

How do we add/subtract time using javascript?

I have two textboxes which displays time in this format ( 9:15 AM ).
All i want to do is subtract time from these ( i.e. 9:15 AM from 10:40 AM )

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi. Try

a = '9:15 AM';
b = '10:40 AM';

var dummy_date = '2000 Jan 1 ';
var da = new Date(dummy_date + a);
var db = new Date(dummy_date + b);
var milliseconds = db.getTime() - da.getTime();

alert (milliseconds/60000 + " minutes have passed!");
