Configure root mail to send to remote server on RedHat 7.3

I have a RedHat 7.3 server which needs to forward it's root mailbox to my mail server machine.  I'm not sure how to set it up to send the mail to the remote machine instead of dumping it into /var/spool/mail/root

add the following line to /etc/aliases:

root:    myotheremail@someotherserver.com

then run
