Allaire Homesite

When I was a webmaster, Allaire Homesite was the best HTML editor, but Macromedia bought Allaire and stopped developing Homesite, then Adobe bought Macromedia and now will Homesite be under development again?

I LOVE ALLAIRE HOMESITE!

Quite honestly, it's really a matter of taste.  I was always partial to UltraEdit32 for all sorts of development (especially when I was doing C development in *nix).  If you're looking for a good GUI, the new Dreamweaver MX is pretty good.  We use it at work because it makes it easy to switch between projects in the site manager.  AND it allows us to have Contribute for some of our sites so non-technical managers in some departments can easily update sites on templates we create in DW-MX without allowing them the ability to destroy our templates.

It just depends on what you're looking for and what you like.

Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 is the successor of Macromedia Homesite 5.

Mm, indeed.  I think I installed a preview copy of Homesite once and gave it a good go for about 15 days.  I switched back to the text editor. hah!  I do like Dreamweaver though!  Good luck with whatever you decide and it was my pleasure to lend advice!
