Call Manager Platform

Hi all.

We are thinking of upgrading our Call Manager to version 5.0  I have contacted Cisco about this issue but there seems to be a contradiction between what the tech told me and what is on their website.  I need to run CM on a Gateway 9515 but the website says that it will only run on IBM's or HP's.  However, the tech said that it should run on the Gateway.  It doesn't make much sense to me that a software package would run on one vendors equipment and not another.  The specs of the 9515 are >= what Cisco recomneds.  Has anyone had any trouble running CM on a non HP/IBM server?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi brussell123,

I have had CM 5 on a Dell machine in our pre-production environment and have had no issues.  The tech is correct that it should run, but Cisco's official line will remain the same.  Installation of CM5 on anything other than IBM or HP models will not be supported by Cisco
