    what about if I have to use server and a user name to create a path to the shared folder?

    can I do this:

    Process.Start("\\server\share\path\username") ?

    All you need to have is a valid UNC name for your network.  This would be the same as opening Windows Explorer and typing in the UNC name in the Address block.
