Dear expert,

I have a desktop computer at home and just bought a laptop.  The desktop connects to online with a DSL connection and I am going to put a router so I can get on wireless with my laptop to the web.  Can I restrict broadcast on my wireless, if so how do I do that.

    Accepted Solution

The specifics depend on the exact brand and model of wireless router you are going to buy, but in most cases there is an option in the configuration for broadcasting your SSID. Turn that off and you won't broadcast any longer. Unless of course, you mean broadcasting the wireless completely (which doesn't make sense, because then you wouldn't be able to use the wireless on the laptop), but usually that configuration option is Turn Radio On/Off.
