Redirect Causing loss of Prameter and Attribute Values

Hello I am new to JSP and I have a few questions regarding the same .

I am using (JSf-struts) for a web application in which I redirect a page (in the config class) .I am not able to access param/attribute values in the action class after redirection.

Does redirection cause the loss of param values , if so what should be the remidy

one simple thing you can do is to uses sessions set the param/attribute  values in session and use them.
using session.setAttribute() or session.setParameter() and there getters suitably.

Could you please show me an example where I can set attributes for session variables in the JSF page
