How to pass values between forms

Hi Experts,

Is there a way to have a short form a customer fills out with name and email address that is then redirected to a longer form that requests further information such as their address, phone, etc, automatically populate the name and email fields already filled out in the short form, so they don't have to enter that information again?

The reason I need both values in both forms is because they feed into an autoresponder list, and I want the long form to replace the short form; in case the customer only wants to fill out the short form I would still get their contact into.

    why not

just grab the data from the first form and  populate them into the next form
the second CGI must be capable of getting the pre data through POST or GET
