Symantec antivirus "error LU1821"
Experts,please help me on this
After running LiveUpdate I get the following:
Next to: Scan and Deliver Filter- I get a green tick showing success
Next to: LiveUpdate- I get a green tick showing success.
Next to: AntiVirus Corporate Server-I get a cross showing failure.
Below the update which failed I get this message:
LU1806:LiveUpdate was not able to install any of the 1 updates that you selected. For more informnation please click the "+" sign next to the updates(s) that did not install. All the Available updates were selected.
When I click the "+" sign I get a cross next to Subtitle "Virus Definition" with the message "LU1821:LU1821: This update failed because it tried to overwrite a file that was in use. Close all of your symantec applications and run LiveUpdate again"
NOTE:This problem is not the first time I came across. I once have it but all of a sudden it did install all the three updates. When I ran LiveUpdate next time I was shocked it came back. By now my most recent virus definition is 2/1/2006 rev. 21.
I found something similar in the thread with the URL below and the thread poster said he solved the problem by following the steps below

Found the Fix:
open the registry under hkey local\software\symantec\in stalled apps\savc
the value should read C:\program files\symantec client security\symantec
before it just read C:\program files\symantec
////////////////////////// ////////// ////////// //
But the same steps failed when I tried them.
I noticed again that I have no folder called Symantec Client Security but I have Symantec Antivirus. The original value I found was C:\program files\Symantec Antiviirus.
I have just 1 question now which goes "HOW CAN I SOLVE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE ALL THE STEPS I TRIED FAILED?"

I did not go any far with the steps because I received an error message on the way which says "the server does not allow me to fulfil my request"
NOTE: The computer I installed the antvirus on is Windows 2000 Server.

Your last post entails uninstalling and re-installing the Antivrus software. This does not favour me because I was dependent on the support company for the installation of the antivirus on my server. By this time I decide to call them again because I dont have any antivirus CDs. Anyway thank you for showing keen interest in helping.
Thanks and good luck.
