MSASCui.exe - Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly...

I'm getting this error message when I login. (MSASCui.exe = Windows Defender)

"MSASCui.exe - Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022).  Click on OK to terminate the application."

It doesn't give me the error on any of the other, 20 or so, PC's I've installed Windows Defender on.  It also doesn't give me the error when I login to Administrator on that PC.  This is in a Windows 2000 environment.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try giving users the same permissions to MSASCui.exe that an admin has

Seems strange that this would happen to only one user if that was the case.  I will try this.

Setting same permissions as admin didnt correct the issue.  I uninstalled Windows Defender so that it stops giving him the error.
You didn't have to uninstall it. In regsitry (regedit) goto HKLM - software - windows defender right click and give everyone full control except modify or delete and will fix it
