recover public folder from pub.edb & pub.stm

Exchange 2003 on SBS 2003 crashed. Is there a way to get the public folder information back from the pub.edb & pub.stm? I reinstalled OS & setup Exchange with brand new store which work properly, but when I try to dismount public store and replace the pub.edb & pub.stm files, I get an error c1041724 & a event error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Event Category: General
Event ID: 9519
Computer: SERVER
Error 0xfffffde4 starting database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER)" on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store.

The public folder only had one contact list that had about 7000 contacts.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is the new server configured identically to the old one? Same name, domain name, partitions drive letters etc? For Exchange to accept the database it must be in the identical place, on the identical name with the identical domain name.

However as the server crashed, there is a good chance the file is corrupt.
You could try running the database utilities on a copy of the database files, otherwise you are looking at something like On Track Power Controls or a data recovery company.

Yes, everything is the same on the new Exchange server. I will try the database utilities. Thanks.
