Hello,

I have a new Lenova X60 Laptop computer.  I can connect and google but the wireless card turns off after a very short time.  How can I fix this?

Thanks.

The wireless card is turning off after a few seconds.  It shouldn't be doing this.  Why turn the power managment features off?

tim_quiCommented:
Because that's what most likely is turning off the card.

Please download HijackThis 1.99.1
http://www.cyberanswers.org/forum/uploads/HijackThis1991.exe
Open Hijackthis, click "scan and save a logfile" don't fix anything yet, just upload the logfile created, go here and paste your Hijackthis log, http://www.rafb.net/paste/
then at the bottom left corner click "paste"
Copy the address/url and post it here:

Or copy and paste the log at;
http://www.hijackthis.de/
and click "Analyse", "Save".  Post a link to the saved list here.

What is with you guys and "hijackthis"?  If the power management features are turned off then there will be no power management features.

Are the power management features turned off?

Hijackthis helps diagnose problems, malware always exists as potential problem.

turning off the power managerment features will leave the machine constantly on.. therefore your WIFI doesn't drop.  Tim_qui's suggested comment, was suggested as this "may" be a malware problem.  Perhaps you would like to execute our comments and help us help you..

I want the machine to function normally.  That means that I will still be able to use the power settings and not get dropped after literally 2 or 3 seconds.

tim_quiCommented:
If you only turn off the power management features for the wireless card it will not affect the other power setting you want to use.

Do you think perhaps they have a clue and that they help out MANY people here? . (Without getting paid for it!)

They suggested what they did because it's a common problem.
It makes sense to check it first because it's a common problem, it's easy to check, and it doesn't cost you any money.

If you turn it off and it doesn't help you can always turn it right back back on.
But if you don't turn it off and it happens to be the cause....

Make sense?

Since this is a brand new system I suggest you contact lenovo support as this may be faulty hardware, make them fix it.

the model of the Lenova computer is that the EXACT model?  Can you firm this? sounds like we will have to hunt a driver down.

tim_quiCommented:
irwinpks,

that's a good idea.

holyman1,

please post your operating system and the exact model of your wireless card.

The windows drivers should be fine, are you letting windows manage your wireless connections?
