Actually, you can join a domain, but only during a clean installation, and during the initial setup of the machine. &nbsp;After the initial setup is complete, this functionality is removed. &nbsp; This is for compatibility with the Media Center Extender devices.<br />

Additionally, if you're upgrading a machine that is already joined to a domain, it will remain joined. &nbsp;However, if you leave the domain, you can't go back.<br />

I have two laptops that are media center edition on them. Can they be integrated into a Win2k3 server domain without issues? I know XP Pro is the recommended way to do it, and XP Home sucks, but what of media center edition?

Media Center Edition

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server. Important upgrades included integrating Internet Information Services (IIS), improvements to Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP), and the migration to Automated System Recovery (ASR).
