Getting Service profile is damaged. Please reinstall service profile. when trying to use IE and accessing MS update web site.

I have a machine with xp home installed, we had to do a repair install to get the machine up and running. We are now getting a service profile is damaged. This happens everytime we click on IE and once we are on line we get the message when we try and access the MS update site. Any help would be appreciated.

Remove MSN in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in the Control Panel. If you don't see it
Then click start-run- *regedit*
Modify the following:
Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Connection Manager
# Right Click on the Connection Manager key (not shown here)and delete it.

ASKER

I was able to resolve this by deleting the dial-up connection in the Network Connections folder. Apparently the dial-up settings got corrupted.
