Setting up First Domino Server for a company

Hi.
I was asked to install First Domino Server for a company. This company does not have any messaging system before. Can someone guide me right from scratch
I guess the company has Domain registered. What I need to know from ISP and how the mail will route from ISP to my Domino and this only 1 Domino box will be SMTP as well. It is a small company so they want to use only 1 box for everything.
Thanks

It is all in the eplyment, and install guides that should be  on the install CD.

I would also check the generalal deployment Redbooks at

for R 7 see

http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/redp4120.html?Open

For R 6
 see

http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/sg246889.html?Open

To do it correctly, you have a lot of reading to do !

I hope this helps !

ASKER

This redbooks are for upgrade and not first install. Is there any documentation regarding First Domino deployment.
Thanks
Actually, they also cover first install if yo read them.
For more information, once the Server and CLient are installed ( just the organization and first configuration ), you will have access the the Administation Help which has lots more information.

You can also download it from the IBM site.

I hope this helps !

Hopefully Domino 7
Well there is info on deploying a new setup.
You need to define the company name and hierarchy if any.
You need DNS set up for a DOmain so that you can send/receive mail.
MX records will need to be changed.

The install is not the problem, it is the configuration AFTER the install that will probably take some time to get right.

I would do a basic install and get Local mail working, and then read the Admin stuff on how to get SMTP/Internet mail running.

You can always ask specific question here on EE.

I hope this helps !
The installation guides for each version of Notes are listed here:
http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/notesua.nsf/find/domino

If you click on the product release version, for instance R7.0

you will see a page of Downloadable PDF files:

Lotus Domino 7 - Installing Domino Servers

The list includes PDF's for both installing Domino Servers, and Upgrading Domino Servers.

The RedBooks that sysExpert mentions are really good resources. But the PDF's get a bit more to the point for your case.
