Netgear VPNs and DynDNS = Disconnection!

Hey Experts,

Im trying to establish a VPN connection using netgear routers and I am having one difficult time with it.  Here is what I have:  I have a Netgear FWG114P Router at one office with a dynamic IP address, but I have a dyndns account with a Dynamic DNS name for this.  The Dynamic DNS connection uses their software client to update.  At the other end I have a Netgear FVS114 Router with a Static IP address.  What I can do is establish a VPN using the VPN wizard on both ends of the connection.  What happens though is that roughly after about 1-2 hours all WAN connection is lost at the static IP end, nobody can access the internet anymore, and the VPN is obviously down.  I power cycle everything at the static IP end and the Internet is restored but the IKE policy has been removed and I have to go through and rerun the wizard and then the VPN works.  This will loop for all eternity like this, every 1-2 hours I have to power cycle and resetup the vpn.  When this happens nothing goes down at the dynamic end of the connection, it all works fine.  Also I left the VPN disconnected for the past 24 hours to see if maybe it was just the router and access to the internet was uninterupted, It seems to happen only when I have the VPN going.  Before I attempted to setup the connection there was virtually no Internet downtime.  If anybody could help me out, I would be eternally grateful.

Have you tried updating the firmware for the FVS114? There was a similar issue with one of the other FSV series routers, I think FSV318, that was resolved with the latest firmware. I would be tempted to re-install the firmware if you already have the latest version. Doing so will probably revert the router back to factory defaults. Make sure you make note of the existing configuration first.

Okay, well sure enough the firmware download says that it solves all sorts of VPN issues and locking up issues, I'm going to do that right now and I'll let you know if it holds.  Thanks

Glad to hear it was that easy. Some times those on again, off again problems can take a long time to resolve.
Thanks,
