Documents Count

When I check a particular user database properties (Client & Server) I can see the number of Documents is 2340 . For some reasons when I do a View ALL Documents (Client & Server) the number of documents is 890. The reason I'm asking is because I just can't get the disk space down even after compacting. Am I missing somrthing here ?

Can anyone help ?

Bianchi928,
one possibility is that the database has docs with Readers field which does not include as a member. another might be due to orphan docs (response docs without parents). try to change the view not to display response docs in hierarchy to include the response docs in the view.

hope this helps.

Hi Bianchi928,
What notes version..?
So you're saying that when you do File>>Database>PRoperties, the number of docs = 2340,  but when you open the database and select view>>All Documents, and select all, the count is 890?

Then it would seem that you have some 1450 deleted documents sitting in the trash folder, some of these are documents set not to display in a view, like rules (these don't display).

Number of documents is different from disk space.  If you do file>>database>>new copy without documents or ACL, you can see the size of the raw database, which may only register between 60-70% used because of heavy graphics, views, etc.

The design make take more space than the documents. :)

Regards!

I come from a long line of users with 5000 emails sitting in their inbox.  :)  Some from 1996....

I especially like when they complain that it takes too long for their email to open.  Might want to automate the empty trash...  The other thing I  disabled was the automatic save... :)  It asks each time.
