Exchange 2003 / POP3 corrupted emails

Hi

Ive got an exchange server 2003 with some users accessing emails via RCP over HTTP and others using POP3. Quite regularly the POP3 users get corrupted emails, and need to clear with OWA.

I've had a search through these questions, and hte most relevant answer I found was from SeeBee in one message re exchange 2k "You will find that most email administrators who allows POP3 access to their Exchange server have to go looking for a malformed message on a regular basis."

My question (vain hope) is that is this less of an issue in 2k3 or if someone can provide ideas on how to reduce this happening. Up to this point I was assuming it was the Avast AV running on the server that was causing the issue.

Are you running anti-spam software? We had an issue with iHateSpam.

Only Avast and MS IMF. Avast we're considering dumping to try to help with the problem. I'd hope MS IMF wouldnt be causing an issue.

Thanks

I'm not familiar with Avast. Does it modify the mail headers? My suspicion with iHateSpam was that modifying the mail headers was the root cause of the problem.

If there is some way to turn off modification of headers you could try that as a test.

Thanks for your help with this r-k. Sorry for slow response. It was modifying the headers and once stopped seems to have fixed the issue
