Unable to sign into MSN account.

Hi. A couple of days ago I went to sign into my MSN account and got a message stating that MSN were enhancing their service. After repeatedly attempting to download the software it doesn't install so I'm still unable to sign into the MSN browser.

Any suggestions welcomed.

(P.S. Please use the following e-mail for replies as I have no access to my MSN e-mail)

tymorahz@yahoo.co.uk

Thank you.

Recent windows update
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

Copy the following to the clipboard (it's all one line even if wrapped in your browser - paste into notepad and remove line breaks if necessary, and copy again)
click START, type RUN <enter>

=copy below here=
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Cached" /v "{A4DF5659-0801-4A60-9607-1C48695EFDA9} {000214E6-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} 0x401" /t REG_DWORD /d 1

Thank you for that information. Before I go ahead are you sure that this is the cause of my problem? It talks about a Windows security update but I usually I do this by downloading updates from the MSN site. Are we talking about the same thing?

Please confirm.

Thanks.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

This has solved 100+ questions that I assisted over that last 72 hours.  a big screw up by Microsoft... doesn't hurt to try it..worst case, just go back in the registry and DELETE the key. If it doesn't work.. we can do other things.

Hi Jay70. No I can access other websites as usual. When I try to sign into my MSN accoubnt I'm told MSN are updating their service to enhance user experience. I'm told to download the update but it doesn't successfully downlaod after many attempts. I've tried uninstalling MSN browser completely, then re-installing but the same thing happens.

have no fear..but if you want to be safe, launch REGEDIT, then from the menu FILE-EXPORT, and name your file.. save it in a place you can find it.

irwinpks, I don't know what the hell is going on but I uninstalled then reinstalled my MSN browser (for the second time) and then tried to sign in. I used my usual password but it wasn't accepted for some strange reason, so I changed it and for goodness sake it let me sign in! I'm really baffled and I hope it's solved the problem. Sorry to waste your time. If it goes wrong again I hope I can consult you again. Anyway, thanks for all the advice and if things go belly up again I hope I can consult you again.

Thanks again.

I was thinking that it wasn't XP when it had to go look for the registry editor.
