New mail not showing up in in-box

I have a user whos email doesn't show up in her in-box, but instead she has to click "VIEW-->ALL DOCUMENTS" in order to see it.
If I open the database directly in domino administrator, the same thing happens with me, so it has to be something pertaining to the database itself.  i have tried refreshing the design, but to no avail. I copied the DB but it still has the same quirk.  any suggestions?

Refresh? or Replace?  Try replacing the design to another mail template, and then to the one you want to use.

Or, create a new replica (which cures all evils), and then replace that design.  If it works, then remove the replica on the server, and replace it with this one (goes without saying user has to exit notes, and server needs to be down to do the replace).

Goto design and scroll to Folders, Make sure u are not having two or more ($Inbox) folders..If you have more than one, then delete the one and refresh the mail db design

i opened the DB, clicked File-->Database-->Copy Database and then replaced the design.  Same problem.  When I open the database, I have to click Vies-->All Documents to see the emails dated this week.  Almost all the emails are not visible in the in-box.  I have to view all documents to see them.  I tried replacing the design with 2 different designs that we use for everyone else.  Same problem.

under the design synopsis-->Folders, there is only one $Inbox

design synopsis will not reveal the duplicate inbox...you have to use designer to manually look into the folders list

This sounds like you have some design elements that are marked with "Do not allow design refresh/replace to modify.."  which means you can replace all you like, but until you remove the flags, the design will not get update.

Follow the instructions to remove the flags,  make sure the database properties inherit design is clear, then try again.. replace the design with say, the discussion template, (no inherit!!!) and then replace again with the mail template.

Exploring the design using Notes Peek will also show you the duplicate design errors, or try ezscan from Ytria.com (you can rent the tool for a week)

Have experienced this same problem, and it was fixed as addresses by Hemanth. Open the db in Designer and have a look

one warning: before deleting and recreating the inbox, create a new folder, and copy all email from the inbox into this folder. Then, after rebuilding the inbox, copy all mail back from that folder to the inbox. We had sitations where all mail from the inbox disappeared, and it had to be reconstructed best we could be copying mail from all documents

Word of warning.. since this is a mailbox, you can only do jammypak's suggestion with the user's id, else you will miss encrypted, private documents stored in the inbox.

OK this is a drastic measure but one that worked for me in the past.  First of all follow JammyPaj's advice and create a new folder and copy all email from the inbox to that folder.

Replace the design of the mail file with a discussion template then when finished replace with the correct mail file.  You can copy messages back into the inbox from the copied folder.

Why does this work?
By replacing the design with a no mail one it removes ALL views, folders etc that are specific to the mail design, in that same way when you replace the mail design back on it places them back in an removes the Non mail design elements
