How to check ram type?

Hi

I am using a laptop and windows XP,
How do I check whether my RAM type is SDRAM or DDR ram? or maybe other type?

Depending on your Laptop make and model number you need to select the correct SO-DIMM...

Go to www.crucial.com and use their *memory locater* for your laptop, it will tell you exactly what you need, and what is available.

It will be in the manual; if you have lost it, and know the model of the laptop, the the company's website would have the type of memory:

The above posts by wlennon and neopolitan are right on. If you want to have a look at precisely what's in your machine right now (brand, timings, clock speeds, etc.), there is a very informative program from www.cpuid.com called CPU-Z.

You can also see whether or not its DDR or SD by actually looking at a strip of the ram. DDR only has one gap in the flat part that sets in the motherboard, SD has two gaps.
