Problem with install MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 KB911562

I have two Windows 2000 machines (one Server, one Professional) that I am having trouble installing MDAC 2.7 SP1 KB911562.

It is simply reporting 'failed'.  The event views says:

Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80074286 Security Update for MDAC 2.7 SP1 KB911562.

It is giving an event ID of '20'.

I fear I have a 'mixed bag' of MDACs that may be causing some troubles.

Any ideas?

I went to 2.8, couple reboots, all ok.

    Thanks for the tip.
