Can someone confirm whether Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition will run on XP Pro?  The item name shows: MICROSOFT SQL SERVER DEVELOPER EDITION 2005 WIN32 X64/IA64 EN .

Also, I have been developing an application using a SqlServer 2000 database.  Can I safely import that database into 2005 and just continue working?  Or what do I need to be warned/cautioned/advised about doing this mid-way in development?

    Accepted Solution

Yes, 2005 Developer Edition will run on XP Pro.

As far as converting databases goes, as far as I am aware there shouldn't be any problems. But, as always, a backup is recommended before trying it :o)
